Loves Soft Light
I saw someone I love get told they were bad
Watched the light in their eyes turn sad
My heart rose up like a storming sea
Wanting to fight for what’s right to me
Anger burned, but I stopped to see
That flame said more about me
To witness pain cuts deep inside
And the helpless child in me cried
So I sit and breathe before I move
I can’t open eyes shut tight
I pray for peace, I pray for grace
And rest in love’s soft light
One blames the other, the story’s tight
Each convinced that they are right
I want to mend what they tore apart
But that’s not the work of my heart
Frustration came, then sorrow’s tide
I wanted the world to be unified
But peace begins where control must end
Where I hold my fear and call it friend
So I sit and breathe before I move
I can’t open eyes shut tight
I pray for peace, I pray for grace
And rest in love’s soft light
I listen close to the child within
Scared no one will hear her cry
I hold her hand, we bow and pray
And love’s quiet voice lights the way
So I sit and breathe, my heart made new
No fight left here tonight
I rest in peace, I rest in grace
And trust in love’s soft light
