Holy Ground

I sailed out looking for a distant shore

With a homemade map and a hungry soul

But the farther I wandered, the more I found

The road led back to holy ground

It’s wonder and welcome

Thunder and grace

A strange new country

With a familiar face

A cross in the center

Arms open wide

The world is an adventure

And love is alive

The stars aren’t gears in a lifeless machine

The sun still rises like a gift unseen

Every flower, every child, every ordinary thing

Is a fairy tale God keeps whispering

It’s wonder and welcome

Thunder and grace

A strange new country

With a familiar face

A cross in the center

Arms open wide

The world is an adventure

And love is alive

Too much reason makes a prison

Too much doubt can blind the eyes

But mystery leaves the windows open

And joy comes pouring through the sky

It’s humble and holy

Fierce and kind

A truth too wide

For a narrow mind

I thought I was searching

Far from home

But the door I found

Was the one I’d known
